The School has a proud academic history which has been built around strong and positive educational leadership, matched by excellence in teaching and pastoral care and supported by a wide range of co-curricular activities.

Our Mission
To provide excellence in all-round education within a unique environment by:
~ promoting best practice in pastoral, academic and co-curricular programs;
~ creating a caring, stimulating, structured and Christian settings; and
~ encouraging students to develop their self-esteem and achieve their potential

Early Childhood

Our Early Childhood Centre is a place where a love of learning is nurtured and developed; where a Growth Mindset takes root and where the value of play is never underestimated. We value Cultures of Thinking, celebrate diversity and display gratitude. We seek to work together for each other, striving collaboratively to be the best we can be, both individually and collectively.
We are a School surrounded by bushland, where nature is not simply on our doorstep but invades our classrooms and is an integral part of who and what we are.

Children thrive in an area that encompasses trees, bushland, bugs, slopes, dirt and sand; providing an opportunity for children to actively engage in the world around them. Age old pursuits of tree climbing, scrambling through the bush and playing with sticks are commonplace and are actively encouraged.

Early Childhood at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School is a special time for our children. It is a time for connections, a time for discovery, a time for wonder and a time for learning. It is their time.

The current Kindergarten program allows for four full school days per week.

Primary

Our Primary School is a tranquil and yet dynamic place that provides a safe, active and stimulating environment in which young minds are challenged and young spirits enriched. Our delightful grounds provide the backdrop for well-resourced classrooms, excellent sporting and music facilities, and play areas. Most importantly, the special skills of our talented and carefully selected staff ensure that the children who come here continue their educational journey with positive and supportive experiences.

One of the significant advantages of a primary education at the Grammar School is the access that our primary students have to specialist teaching staff and magnificent specialist facilities including the Lishman Library, our Design and Technology Centre, the School Gymnasium, and excellent Music, Drama and Art Centre. This sharing of facilities by primary and secondary students encourages what is a fundamental part of a Grammar School education – the development of positive, warm and open relationships between students of all ages.

Secondary

Life within our Secondary School is about educating each of our students to take responsibility for their learning and to consider alternatives for their future. We are focused on our students finding and embracing their own identity. The education that we provide celebrates diversity and aims to open young minds rather than close them.

We have a very friendly and happy School where young men and women mix in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect. We have developed an outstanding learning community, with peaceful and beautiful grounds, state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated staff. Grammar School teachers are leaders in their profession and specialists in their fields. They are committed to innovation in education, where pushing the boundaries and encouraging creativity are the hallmarks, where providing a curriculum for life is what really matters.

Boarding

The boarding facilities at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School are located right in the heart of our School grounds. Each boarding house has self-contained, cottage-style accommodation and each cottage can house up to nine boarders of varying ages. Students have bedrooms rather than dormitories and the senior students take some responsibility for the care of the younger members of their unit. Shower, toilet and laundry facilities are shared and each unit has a kitchen and an eating area where students meet over breakfast, afternoon tea and supper (lunch and the evening meal each day are provided by our boarding designated chefs). This unique way of housing students helps to foster strong bonds of friendship across age groups.

The co-educational nature of boarding means that girls and boys mix in a natural and healthy environment where friendships develop within clear and meaningful guidelines. For boarding families, the reality of having both their sons and daughters educated at the same School is a great advantage and many of the friendships that develop here are life long.

We offer an experience for our boarders that aims to help them find enjoyment and to grow during their time away from home. Our central aim is to provide a ‘home away from home’ experience that provides each boarder with unlimited opportunities to develop lifelong friendships, lifelong learning strategies and a degree of independence and interdependence that will serve them well in life beyond the Grammar School. It is the friendly spirit of co-operation between students, staff, parents and boarding families that makes this a very special place.
