Korowa approaches the learning needs of all students from the Early Learning Centre through to VCE with commitment, compassion and enthusiasm.
Our curriculum is a carefully constructed path which leads girls to academic success now and into the future. It also facilitates the development of that confident inner person who has the strength of character and resolve to succeed in endeavours throughout their lifetime.
Our acclaimed language program offers students German, French, Chinese and Japanese with a high percentage of students studying one or two languages all the way through to Year 12. Our graduates are a testament to the success of this program with many living and working overseas and for international companies making use of their language skills.
Our ELC (3 and 4 year old program) curriculum
is influenced by the principles of the Reggio Emilia educational project from Northern Italy. We support children's efforts to construct meaning from the world around them by drawing on their prior knowledge, providing inspiration through new experiences and providing time and opportunity for reflection and consolidation.
Our Junior School (Prep to Year 5) focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in and outside of the classroom. We pay particularly sharp attention to fundamental literacy and numeracy skills.
We offer a unique Middle School (Yr 6-8) curriculum that, in addition to a diverse core curriculum, offers a Korowa-designed program that focus on the student's role as a learner and a leader.
This provides a strong foundation for VCE where students can choose from around 40 subjects as well as Vocational Education and Training (VET) options. From Year 9, highly able students can commence accelerating their study program, enabling them to undertake university level subjects during VCE.
Extension activities are offered at all year levels.
From book clubs to sporting activities; from outdoor adventures to social service - there is always a lot going on beyond the classroom at Korowa.
At Korowa, we recognise that some of life's most important and lasting lessons are learned outside of the classroom. Our rich extracurricular offerings provide outlets for students to nurture and grow their existing talents and explore new ones, while making friends with students who share their interests. With programs in the arts, sports, clubs and community service, Korowa students have a multitude of extracurricular options that are not only fun, but also serve to develop confidence and build leadership and teamwork skills.
In addition, we provide an infrastructure which supports student learning and facilitates parent interaction with the School. Our comprehensive approach to education includes a student welfare program which provides an overarching framework for all of our interactions with students and their families.
We provide a range of services and facilities aimed at assisting families to meet the demands of everyday life. A high quality tuckshop, an excellent after school and holiday program, an on-campus health centre, and more, all contribute to supporting busy families.
Korowa is set among expansive, leafy surroundings housing modern facilities on a single campus. Our ELC, Junior, Middle and Senior School all contain open light-filled spaces designed to be conducive to a flexible learning environment.
Specialist areas include a dedicated VCE Centre comprising study centre and cafe, a visual arts centre with photographic dark room and pottery studio, a dedicated Middle School building, and first-rate sporting facilities including a grassed oval, tennis and basketball courts, two gymnasia and a heated indoor 25-metre swimming pool.
Newer facilities include a purpose-built Science wing and Food Technology centre, which includes a Stephanie Alexander Market Garden.
Korowa Anglican Girls' School enjoys an exemplary record of academic performance across all levels of the School.
Our VCE results consistently place Korowa in the top band of schools across the State and external tests of literacy and numeracy standards in earlier years outstrip national averages. Korowa's university entrance levels are among the highest in the State.
These outcomes are all the more remarkable given Korowa is a non-selective school and girls of varying academic abilities are welcome at Korowa and, in general, remain with us for their entire education.
We are equally proud of our students' successes outside the formal classroom setting. Korowa students have an enviable record of success across a myriad of areas from the sporting field to the design studio to the stage.
More information about the achievements of Korowa students is available on our website.
We are always pleased to welcome new families to our warm and vibrant community. We don't have set years of entry. Girls are welcome to join us at any stage of their schooling.
