All Hallows' School

Welcome

Welcome to All Hallows’ School, a community alive with the charism of Catherine McAuley and the traditions and culture of our history of more than 160 years. Established in 1861, All Hallows’ is grounded in the Catholic traditions and values of the Sisters of Mercy. Catherine McAuley’s vision lives on today as the first girls’ school in Queensland and the oldest secondary School in the State.

Our outstanding facilities are set on a three hectare, heritage listed site beside the Brisbane River in the heart of the city. Our campus features state-of-the-art learning spaces and technologies, a newly-built library with a dedicated Senior Learning Centre, a beautifully appointed and specialised Years 5 & 6 building, two sports halls, an aquatic centre, theatre and dedicated art, drama, music and dance studios.

Education of the highest standard

At All Hallows’, we believe that education must provide girls and young women with a holistic learning experience of the highest standard.

We believe that our students are best prepared for life by developing their thinking, problem-solving, personal reflection and communication skills, that they need to experience and respond to an academically rigorous and intellectually challenging curriculum, and that they must be not only technologically competent but also technologically critical individuals.

Our dedicated and talented teachers and support staff strive to nurture, support and challenge our students’ development as young women who are reflective, who see injustice and unfair practices and take action, and who work to build authentic relationships within and beyond our school. Through our extensive Mercy Action social justice program, a wide choice of subjects and a diverse co-curricular program, All Hallows’ offers myriad opportunities for our students to learn and thrive.

Curriculum

All Hallows’ School is committed to providing student centred learning programs that meet the needs of all students. Diversity of background, abilities and aspirations is embraced and nurtured. This is seen in the promotion of strategies for individualised learning that appropriately support, extend and challenge each learner. Similarly, a broad range of subject offerings and support for diverse senior studies programs cater for both academically and vocationally oriented pathways for our students. The design and delivery of curriculum promotes a learning community in which students and teachers actively engage in reflective, creative and critical thinking.

Co-Curricular

All Hallows’ School provides an extensive and diverse range of cultural and sporting co-curricular activities beyond the classroom that are designed to build confidence and engagement and develop strong peer relationships. Our co-curricular program encourages participation, team-work, self-confidence and creativity, contributing to a holistic education and the development of the whole person.

Culture

At All Hallows’, we value the essential skills Performing Arts teaches students: skills our students will need throughout their schooling and beyond. It builds their self-confidence, creativity and adaptability and extends their abilities in communicating and exploring ideas. Our Cultural Program offers a diverse range of opportunities from instrumental music, dance, voice, speech and drama lessons, to ensembles, choirs and bands.

Sport

Sport is a vital aspect of the co-curricular program at All Hallows' in which discipline, self-esteem, humility, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle are valued. Our large range of sports provide opportunity for students to foster their individual talents, while promoting a commitment to their health and wellbeing, now and into the future. All students participate in sporting activities as part of their academic program and through our comprehensive Inter-House program which provides an opportunity for participation and success for each student.
All Hallows’ is a member of the Catholic Secondary Schools Sports Association (CaSSSA) and competes in Inter-School Carnivals for Swimming, Athletics and Cross country.
