For 130 years Barker College has been a dynamic and forward-thinking, inclusive Anglican day and boarding school. The School is located at Hornsby, 25 kms to the north of Sydney at the junction of the North Shore and Central Coast railway lines, and near the start of the Sydney-Newcastle M1 Freeway.
A Barker education is shaped by our focus on preparing students for a life beyond the school gates. We seek to expose our students to diverse opportunities and experiences, so that they are able to develop resilience and adaptability within a supportive environment.
We have an abiding commitment to a strong academic program, effective pastoral care delivered in a Christian setting, opportunities and choice for all.
Further information about Barker, including curriculum details and our School Prospectus, can be found on Barker's website. Visit the school website www.barker.college.
Barker is an Anglican community inspiring every learner, every experience, every day.
Boarding at Barker College is a unique experience for senior students only. Students commence boarding at Barker in Year 10.
The Barker experience attracts boarders from the suburbs of Sydney through to country regions of NSW and beyond. The coeducational and small boarder numbers support the development of peer relationships and social skills, whilst also allowing strong academic and personal mentoring opportunities.
Families can consider keeping their children closer to home until the end of Year 9 and then elect to enter boarding from the start of Year 10.
Each year Barker College offers a number of Scholarships for Boarding, Academic and Music. The Scholarship Exam is held at the School and further information including an application, can be found at www.barker.college
Barker has been located on its current 50 acre site since 1895 and successive generations of leaders and families have contributed to the beautiful campus we see today.
Opened in June 2020, the community's new centre of movement and learning is a purpose designed and built facility providing five court spaces, gym and exercise spaces, rooms for dance, general purpose teaching areas, a café, viewing platform and parking for over 170 cars. The Centre allows the School to showcase sporting events, hold full school assemblies and gatherings as well as providing a space for the wider community to access.
Careful thought has been placed on the design of this space so that it will blend into the existing landscape and respect the way in which the environment shapes down the hill, and the way in which light operates across the surface of our grounds.
