Educating for life

At Penrhos our aim is to educate girls for life. Our students are encouraged to become lifelong learners, active participants and resilient, accomplished and confident contributors. Penrhos College is an academic school, with a consistently fine record of achievement. It is also a place where girls are taught to value spirituality, hard work, friendship, compassion, integrity, good humour, self-discipline, loyalty and community service.

Life as a Penrhosian

We welcome students from a diversity of backgrounds into an environment where the well-being of each girl is our primary objective.

Penrhos College is divided into two schools – Junior and Secondary. Junior School caters for students Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6 while Secondary School offers a specially designed program for Years 7 to 12.

Our pastoral care team is here to provide a network of guidance, support and counseling to help your daughter achieve her personal best in all aspects of her school life.

It starts before your daughter’s first day at school with an orientation program that is designed to ease her, and you, into College life. It continues throughout her time at Penrhos by means of carefully crafted programs involving Academic and Pastoral Care Staff, Counsellors, the College Chaplain, Health Centre Nurses, Boarding House staff, Careers Adviser and teaching staff. This team works with you to ensure your daughter’s individual needs are identified, monitored and cared for.

As a College associated with the Uniting Church of Australia, we focus on the development of sound moral and ethical values, along with spiritual development.

Teaching and Learning

Young women of today can expect to have multiple careers, many of which do not even exist yet. Whatever your daughter does, technology is likely to be involved.

That is why we have made a conscious decision to remain at the forefront of information technology in education, to give our girls the learning and research skills needed to adapt to constant change.

Computer acquisitions, regular upgrades and the integration of information technologies across our curriculum are an ongoing priority, with capital expenditure on hardware and software a major budgetary item. Penrhos College staff undertake significant IT training. Technology is integrated into the curriculum to improve teaching and learning outcomes.

Boarding at Penrhos

Your daughter is about to go on one of the biggest journeys of her life. No, not moving away from home – although that is significant. Her transition from girl to young woman is a time when she needs to feel safe, supported and special.

Menai Boarding House feels more like a boarding home – an intimate, friendly and nurturing environment designed to care for your daughter at every stage of her development.

To learn more, we encourage you to download The Penrhos College Boarding Prospectus from our website or contact the College Registrar for a personalised campus tour. We would love to show you our College next time you are visiting Perth and have an hour or two free.
