At Ipswich Girls’ and Junior Grammar School, our devoted and caring teachers provide exceptional learning experiences for boys and girls from Kindy to Year 6, and for young women from Years 7 to 12.
In the formative years of Kindy to Year 6, when children are developing essential life skills and building emotional, physical, and social foundations, we strongly value the benefits of co-education.
As students progress into the senior years, Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School continues this tradition of excellence by nurturing the individual strengths and talents of our young women.
We are committed to knowing each student. With the support of our expert and compassionate staff, students are encouraged to set high standards for their learning and wellbeing, empowering them to achieve their personal goals and aspirations. |

ACADEMIC
We are dedicated to nurturing the academic potential of every student, believing that excellence is not simply a destination but a journey enriched by grit and grace. Our commitment extends beyond the classroom, with co-curricular and extension opportunities designed to challenge and inspire. These experiences enhance critical and creative thinking, build confidence, and encourage self-expression, ensuring students grow both academically and personally.
THE ARTS
Our dynamic Arts programs foster creativity, resilience, and confidence across all year levels. In the Junior School, students explore music, dance, drama, and visual arts through lessons, performances, and events such as Wakakirri and Harmony Day. From Year 2, they progress through our Instrumental Curriculum, learning a new instrument each year. In the Senior School, students rotate through Dance, Drama, Music, and Visual Arts in Years 7 to 8 before specialising from Year 9 onwards. This comprehensive curriculum cultivates collaboration, critical thinking, and self-expression, inspiring students to discover their unique voice.
SPORT
Sport has been central to our tradition since 1892, offering diverse opportunities for all students regardless of skill level. Participation builds resilience, confidence, and motivation, while teaching teamwork, friendship, and the ability to balance academics with training. Students are encouraged to commit fully to their chosen activities, celebrating victories and learning to handle defeats with grace. We proudly compete in QGSSSA, Britton Shield, and Andrews Cup competitions, giving students the chance to engage in community and competitive sport throughout the year.
STUDENT WELLBEING
We place a strong emphasis on health and wellbeing, creating a nurturing environment that supports achievement and personal growth. Our dedicated Wellbeing Team delivers a comprehensive pastoral care program tailored to the developmental needs of children and young people. We focus on helping students build confidence, self-esteem, respect, and empowerment, while recognising each individual’s unique needs, expectations, and aspirations. This holistic approach ensures every student feels supported to thrive both in school and beyond. |

We have a proud history of offering a highly valued boarding program for students in Years 7 to 12, welcoming young people from diverse local and international backgrounds. At Cribb House, our boarding community provides a supportive environment where students thrive academically, socially, and personally.
Boarders can choose casual, weekly, or full-time options, all ensuring safety, comfort, nutritious meals, and strong academic and social support. While we cannot replace home, we work to create the best possible experience, fostering independence, resilience, and lifelong friendships.
Through structured study, co-curricular involvement, leadership opportunities, and exposure to diverse cultures, boarders develop essential life skills and confidence, preparing them for success beyond school. |
