The Scots School Albury

The Scots School Albury is an independent, non-selective, K-12 co-educational boarding school in the Albury Wodonga region. We are a Uniting Church school.

Most parents want their children to learn well – to be happy and confident, resilient and respectful and to feel engaged and cared for in everything they do.

At the same time, parents want their children to learn with purpose – to reach their full potential as independent, inquisitive learners, to learn how to learn and think, as well as achieve their personal and academic goals.

Parents want their children to be taught by great teachers – teachers who inspire imagination and passion for learning, who use the very best teaching methods, structures and tools and remain totally committed to best practice and improvement and the values of their school.

At Scots we focus on bringing together all three areas to create a great educational journey and outcome for your child.

The Scots Junior School

The Scots Junior School provides a safe and nurturing environment that places each child at the centre of his or her learning experience. Children know they belong and feel part of a safe community where every teacher knows every child’s name. We have small class sizes enabling students to receive individual attention. Our students are engaged and interested in what they are learning, both in the traditional learning areas as well as in our wide range of specialised subjects.

The Scots School Albury is an authorized IB World School (Primary Years Programme).

In the Primary Years Programme, each child is active – they ask questions, they are empowered, and learning is hands-on. At Scots, your child will feel in control of their learning.

Senior School

The Scots Senior School offers a holistic approach to education– we provide what your child needs to do well academically and what they need in order to live a balanced life. We know that a happy child is more engaged with their learning. We help each child reach their potential, whatever their starting point, tailoring the curriculum for each child.

Our facilities maximize students’ learning across a single campus encompassing Junior and Senior School – from the modern Indoor Sports Centre, to the Science Building, Cultural Centre and Chapel Hall.

Co-Curricular at Scots

Our diverse curriculum and co-curricular offering enables our staff to help turn interests into passions. Students at Scots can express themselves in dance, join a musical ensemble – from rock bands to the Pipe Band – transform themselves into new characters in our highly anticipated school musicals, harness their ingenuity in robotics or take part in one of our extensive sports offerings. Students have opportunities to connect with the broader world through service learning and trips abroad and are challenged to overcome adversity in our world-class Outdoor Education programmes. The Scots co-curricular program offers a collaborative, diverse, joyful, exciting, nurturing, inspiring and meaningful set of opportunities.

Some of our co-curicular activities include:
- Drama
- Music (Choral & Instrumental)
- Volunteering
- Duke of Edinburgh
- Dance
- Wide range of sports
- Fundraising
- Overseas service projects

Boarding at Scots

Scots boarders are comfortably accommodated in the fully supervised boarding houses, offering a safe and caring environment. The sense of community in our boarding houses underpins the supportive environment and cohesion between boarders, carers and parents. Located on 11 hectares of extensive grounds, boarders at Scots live on the doorstep of idyllic rivers, lakes and mountains with the convenience of an easy commute to cities yet close to home for many regional families.

Students are encouraged to be aware of the needs of others, to celebrate and respect difference, to share responsibility of duties and to take a lead in supporting each other.

While the boarding houses are separate, boys
and girls share dining facilities, a common courtyard and recreation area. This allows siblings to attend Scots together.

The Scots boarding environment also provides substantial academic learning benefits. These include fixed study times, extended access to learning resources, Prep supervised by academic staff and individual study plans supported by a teacher mentor.
