Orignally founded in 1895 as an Anglican girls school and located in Armidale, Northern NSW, NEGS provides an educational experience for both boys and girls in Junior School and a tailored learning environment for young women in Senior School, with boarding houses to facilitate the educational needs of students located outside of Armidale.
The beautiful 50 hectare campus has a mix of old and new heritage listed buildings with state of the art Science laboratories, a multi-purpose centre and a national standard Equestrian Centre. NEGS also boasts a range of resources for extra-curricular activities catering for the needs of each and every student. |

NEGS offers a plethora of summer and winter sports available at all levels and ability. From outstanding equestrian facilities earmarking NEGS as Australia’s premier equestrian boarding school, to pathways for rifle shooting, rowing, dance, music, athletics, hockey, netball, rugby, swimming, tennis, basketball, agriculture, STEM, Coding and many more. With the building of the NEGS Regional Sporting Complex, a new $1.5 million multi-purpose facility that will benefit not only the students but the entire New England community, it will be among the best multi-sport venues in the region, providing NEGS athletes a state-of-the-art facility for daily training and competition. NEGS offers Talented Athlete Programs (TAP) that provide direct pathways to sporting success in conjunction with NSW Hockey, NSW Netball and NSW Rugby. With the support of these state based sporting bodies, and our state of the art sporting fields under construction, NEGS is continuing to cement its position as a regional hub of sporting excellence. TAP has a flow-through effect for everyone at the school, creating a culture of sporting excellence. The NEGS Talented Athlete Program comprises of the following five components: Specialist Coaching, Athletic Development, Holistic growth, Individual Athlete Plan and high Performance Excursions.
The Program aims to nurture the growth of elite athletes through a holistic and individualised approach while embracing the school values of excellence, responsibility and integrity.
NEGS Equestrian is proud to run several squads to support riders from various disciplines: Campdrafting, Showing, Polocrosse, Eventing and Showjumping. Specialist instructors who have performed highly in their chosen discipline, provide weekly instruction to students keen to reach their potential and achieve their individual competition goals. Competing in Armidale competitions and further afield throughout NSW, Australia and Internationally, NEGS students are known for their skills, enthusiasm and sportsmanship. |

We provide a safe and happy ‘home away from home’ for your child. Our staff will help nurture and guide your daughter through her formative years where she will form strong bonds with other boarders and day students.
Housing is arranged according to age groups and needs. Younger students at NEGS, those ranging from Years 6 – 10, are across two boarding houses and are accommodated in rooms with one – three other students. Years 11 and 12 are across two house and are given individual rooms to maximise their study experience. They are encouraged to socialise in common areas, fostering a sense of community that is highly valued at NEGS. |

The NEGS Junior School has a family atmosphere where parental involvement is encouraged. The school caters for boys and girls from Transition (4-5 year olds) to Year 6. The classes are structured so that each student’s learning style is catered for and each student is strongly supported in his or her learning.
The NEGS Senior School offers girls a comprehensive careers program, enhanced leadership opportunities, full membership to IGSSA for competitive sport, extension education events, opportunity to be a part of the wider cultural life of Armidale and opportunities to utilise the University of New England’s extensive resources.
NEGS girls receive sound academic results, have outstanding achievements on the sports field and flourish in the arts. However, it is in the development of personal qualities where NEGS really stands out.
