Good News Lutheran College is a co-educational Christian school from Prep to Year 12, offering a holistic education in the Lutheran tradition. The College began with just 26 students and two staff in 1997 and has experienced extraordinary growth through to 950 students and a staff of more than 120. In 2018 the College has taken the first steps towards International Baccalaureate candidacy with the adoption of the Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years (MYP) Programmes.
Good News Lutheran College aims to provide a Christ-centred education for all children who attend the College.
We aim to:
Provide each child with a thorough grounding in the Christian faith, and effectively to relate this instruction to the life of the child.
Provide a high standard of instruction in all key learning areas as required by the Department of School Education.
Encourage in each child a feeling of self-worth, and respect for others.
Encourage in each child a love of learning.
Foster the God-given gifts of each child.
The School follows curriculum guidelines set out by the Victorian Directorate of School Education, and guidelines used in other Lutheran Schools.
The school curriculum is based on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards Framework (VELS). Teachers are involved in curriculum development on a regular basis.
Support programs for disadvantaged students are a feature of Lutheran Schools and are provided when the need arises. Open–ended, investigative tasks cater for students of all abilities, especially talented students.
The adoption of the International Baccalaureate Primary and Middle Years Programmes is an exciting new initiative for Good News Lutheran College in 2018.
