“Developing Young People Through The Performing Arts”
For over 26 years The CPCA has been committed to developing young people through music, drama and theatre courses. Our programs are always fun, safe and taught by some of Australia’s most qualified and experienced teaching professionals. Today we have over 3000 students enrolled at over 20 different venues around Melbourne.
Weekly class rehearsals aim to equip young people with the skills and confidence to contribute their own ideas and listen to and accommodate the ideas of others. End of season, charity and touring performances aim to give young people a wide variety of onstage experience and to boost confidence and skill in live performances and public speaking.
We offer three programs, which are Victorian Youth Theatre (VYT), Young Australian Broadway Chorus (YABC), and Beginners OnStage (BoS). These programs are divided into various streams so that kids can participate in a group of students with a similar age, ability or level of interest. The VYT offers students the chance to experience the fundamentals of drama including props, sets and costumes whilst the YABC offers training in musical theatre. BoS introduces kids between 5-7 years old to all the fun of drama, music and dance in a safe and structured environment.
Members are also eligible to join The Talent Company of Australia (TCA), our talent agency that offers professional representation for those students who may require it. Several of our old alumni have reached the highest echelons of the Australian entertainment industry but our sole focus remains the development of young people through our programs and keeping the experiences fun, safe and professionally structured.
