Welcome to St Catherine’s School

St Catherine’s has the unique mixture of a proud history combined with contemporary thinking. Established in 1896, we are fortunate to be custodians of heritage buildings and long-standing traditions; however, our reputation as a leader in girls’ education, for over a century, is based on our readiness to embrace innovation. We take advantage of the best there is to offer in educational practice and applaud the benefits of new technology.

We enjoy a reputation for excellent academic results, a supportive community, an outstanding co-curricular program, exceptional teachers, fine facilities and established alumni networks and yet we believe our greatest achievement is the quality of character which students of St Catherine’s exhibit. Our core philosophy is to nurture independent and thoughtful young women, with strong values, who are confident of their ability to lead and make a difference. Whilst the world around us changes, a moral attitude never goes out of date.

When your daughter joins St Catherine’s she will tread the same floorboards as generations of amazing women before her, and like them, will discover her own path to a meaningful career and a full and relevant life.

I look forward to meeting your family,

Sylvia Walton AO
Principal

Outstanding VCE Results

Whilst our students are enjoying creative and active school days, we never lose sight of the importance of academic achievement. Over the past five years nearly 8% of our Year 12 students have achieved an ATAR/ENTER of above 99, nearly 31% have achieved an ATAR/ENTER of above 95 and 53% have achieved above 90. Compared with a State average of 20%, approximately 77% of our students achieve an ATAR/ENTER of 80 or higher (average St Catherine’s School VCE results, 2006-2010).

Message from Our Girls

Thank you for finding out more about St Catherine’s School. We hope that reading about us gives you a picture of why we love our School so much and what makes St Catherine’s such a special place to be.

St Catherine’s is a really friendly school. Because it is a smaller school, we all get the chance to join the sports squads, star in the productions or join the debating team.

It’s also a School which loves to help people and make a difference. In later years, we can also take up leadership positions to pursue what we’re interested in.

There are lots of exchange opportunities, a wide choice of subjects to choose from, helpful and caring teachers, a great School spirit, and above all, really friendly girls.

Olivia, Lauren and Katerina, Year 7
