A rich learning environment

At Wenona, founded in 1886, we aim to offer experiences which ignite every student’s passion for learning and provide moments of sheer joy and excitement and a sense of real purpose.

A non-selective school, Wenona has a well-earned reputation for outstanding and impressive academic results. Our students benefit from small class sizes, professional and engaging teaching and learning across a broad range of subjects and effective use of technology.

We are proud of our academic peer culture, in which girls and the School community celebrate success.

Girls enjoy the use of our evening studies centre, professional counselling and careers advice, and enrichment and extension.

Our broad co-curricular program, which includes performing arts, debating and many sports, extends the academic curriculum, providing experiences in leadership, cooperative teamwork and sportsmanship.

‘That I may serve’

Respect and responsibility are core values for each and every person in the Wenonian community. Independent and non-denominational, we live the axiom that with great privilege and talent comes great responsibility.

Moreover, our motto, Ut Prosim, “that I may serve”, ensures our determination to make meaningful contributions.

Students of all ages carry out a range of voluntary activities to contribute to local and international communities.

Girls determine their own local service initiatives, while the School is committed to a range of international hands-on “service learning” projects which help students recognise their role as responsible global citizens. They teach at our sister schools in Vanuatu during school holidays, have helped improve an orphanage in Vietnam, and much more.

Many past students are proud to remain involved, enriching the School community for the benefit of current and future students.

Tailoring learning for girls

We respond to girls’ age-appropriate learning needs by providing distinct Junior School, Middle School and Senior College structure and activities.

We value individuality and the development of self-efficacy and optimism. A range of challenging activities help develop a love of learning, encourage risk-taking and foster confidence and independence.

Our teachers understand how girls learn, and they care about each girl's progress. At Wenona, we celebrate achievement. Girls’ talents and abilities are nurtured through close student-teacher interaction in the classroom, through academic care structures, and through a rich range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Boarding at Wenona

Our boarders enjoy living in a peaceful haven close to all the cultural opportunities of a big city. Our friendly boarding community welcomes girls from other parts of Sydney and Australia and elsewhere in the world. Wenona's philosophy values diversity and inclusiveness. Our CRICOS Provider Code is 02275A.
