Pastoral Care

Tara has a well resourced pastoral care program. We aim to provide effective support for the social and spiritual welfare of every girl. Tara has a very friendly and warm atmosphere. We work in a partnership with parents to create a caring environment where girls can relax and be themselves. Girls are encouraged to consider the needs of those less fortunate in the community both in Australia and globally.

Tara has specialist staff who nurture and guide each student. Working with the girls are our Chaplain, Counsellors in the Junior and Senior School, Youth Worker, School Nurse, Year Coordinators and Deputy Principal-Pastoral Care.

Excellence in Learning

Tara's aim is to provide the conditions for Excellence in Learning for our students Pre K-12. We have over 110 years heritage of educating girls and our teachers understand girls’ particular educational and developmental needs.

The Principal is committed to the employment of highly qualified, enthusiastic staff who are passionate about learning, about teaching and about working at Tara.

Junior School

Tara Junior School endeavours to provide students with an enriched educational environment with a focus on meeting the individual learning needs of our girls in a caring, happy environment. The faith basis of the School underpins the School’s programs.

The Junior School curriculum includes the six Key Learning Areas prescribed by the NSW Board of Studies: English; Mathematics; Science and Technology; Human Society and its Environment; Creative and Practical Arts; and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. Christian Studies is a core subject at Tara. Tara Junior School, in addition, offers many opportunities for the girls beyond these six Key Learning Areas with specialist teachers for specific subject areas (e.g. Art, Science, Music, Languages, Sport)

Senior School

Tara educates girls to be leaders and active participants in the School community, preparing them for independent, life long learning. Our aim is for each Tara girl to become a confident young woman of integrity and compassion.

Years 11-12 electives include: Business Studies, Economics, Legal Studies, Information Processes and Technology, Software Design and Development, Design and Technology, Drama, English (Advanced, Standard, Fundamentals, Extension 1, Extension 2), Food Technology, Geography, History (Ancient, Modern, Extension), Languages: French, German and Japanese (Continuers, Extension) Mathematics (General, Extension 1, Extension 2), Music (Music 1, Music 2, Extension), PDHPE, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Senior Science, Studies of Religion (1 unit), Visual Arts, Visual Design and Vocational Education and Training in Hospitality and Information Technology.

Boarding

Tara offers flexible services for modern families, including on site Before and After School Childcare and Vacation Care and part time or full time boarding. Boarding is offered for Tara students in Years 5-12.

Our Boarding facility (Eggleton House) offers an excellent opportunity for girls coming from isolated and remote areas, from the country, or from overseas, to live and study in a secure environment. Tara is located close to Parramatta and girls can have easy access to the cultural, educational and sporting facilities in Sydney, yet live in a beautifully landscaped, spacious area. The Tara Boarding experience enables girls to make an easy transition to city living and tertiary study.

Co Curricular Actvities

Tara offers a wide range of extra and co curricular activities across the arts, debating, sport and music. We encourage each girl to discover and develop her talents.

The development of our girls' interests and talents is a major focus of the extensive Co Curricular program. Participation, commitment and achievement in co and extra curricular areas are recognised in the School's honour awards.
