RAVENSWOOD SCHOOL FOR GIRLS

A Uniting Church independent day and boarding school, Ravenswood caters for girls from kindergarten to Year 12 on one North Shore campus, close to Gordon station and bus interchange. Established in 1901, Ravenswood encourages academic and personal excellence in a caring, Christian environment. Facilities: The school has a centenary centre including a performing arts auditorium, classrooms and exhibition areas. Students’ diverse needs are further catered for by enabling them to access courses taught through outside providers such as The Whitehouse Institute of Design, The Open High School, Colleges of TAFE, The Saturday School of Community Languages, and The University of Sydney.

International Baccalaureate

The IB Diploma Programme, offered for Years 11 and 12 at Ravenswood is a two year rigorous course which is recognised internationally as university matriculation, providing access to tertiary education worldwide. The programme is assessed both internally and externally, culminating in examinations taken at the end of the second year. IB subjects include Biology, Chemistry, Economics, English, French, German, Japanese, Latin, History, Mathematics, Mathematical Studies, Physics, Psychology, Social and Cultural Anthropology, Spanish ab initio, Theatre Arts, and Visual Arts.

Scholarships

Ravenswood offers Academic, Music and Best All Rounder Scholarships for entry into Years 7 and 11. Examinations and auditions are carried out in March each year for entry in the following year.

Sport and Extracurricular activities

Tennis, softball, basketball, hockey, netball, cricket, swimming, athletics, gymnastics, diving, trampolining, water polo, rhythmics. Elective sports include aerobics, jazz dance, life-saving, indoor rock climbing, aqua aerobics, surf awareness, ice-skating, Latin American dancing, football, social tennis, driver education, sports injury and oxy-resuscitation, and tenpin bowling.
Extracurricular activities: Crusaders, drama, debating, public speaking, Mock Trial, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, Year 11 community involvement, theatre technical team, chess club, orchestra, concert band, choirs, madrigal groups, chamber orchestra, ensembles.

Welfare and personal development
