Twin School Campus

The Pittwater House Schools offers a unique educational environment by bringing together the best teaching practices of both single-sex and co-educational learning. The campus contains the Pittwater House Early Childhood Centre catering for children from pre-Kindergarten age, the Junior School comprising Pittwater House Junior Girls College and Pittwater House Prepatory School and the Secondary School comprising Pittwater House Girls College and Pittwater House Grammar School.

Gradual Introduction into Co-ed Classes

In the Junior School the boys and girls have single-sex classrooms for the basis of their learning but also have the opportunity to learm in a co-educational environment when the teachers programme group work across the grade and the curriculum. At break time they all play together sharing their playground. This concept embraces all the proven advantages of single-sex education together with the benefits of social interaction.

In the Secondary School classes in Form 7 to 9 are single-sex for some subjects with a proportion of non-core subjects taught in a co-educational learning environment. Elective subjects in Form 9 and 10 are taught in a co-educational setting while all classes in Form 11 and 12 are fully co-educational to help students better prepare for the tertiary education environment.

Governance

Pittwater House is different from most other non-government schools in Australia. It is one of only a handful of 'private schools' that is not owned or funded by a church or religious group. This campus is owned and managed by the Pittwater House Schools Limited, a public non-profit company limited by guarantee reporting to the Australian Securities and Investment Commission. The Council of Governors offer their services as Directors at no charge and no profits are distributed from the School's operations.

Academic Curriculum

A high priority is given to developing pupil capability in literacy and numeracy from an early age. Teachers' programmes are developed following the NSW Curriculum Guidelines, approved and reviewed by the Head of School, Senior Deputies and Faculty Co-ordinators.

Education at Pittwater House Schools aims to prepare pupils for further study with a clear focus on gaining admission to university.

HSC Results and Achievements

Pittwater House has an enviable academic reputation that is reaffirmed by the rankings published annually in the merit lists. Pupils consistently gain superior results as a group when compared with other Northern Beaches Schools. On average each year 80% of the HSC candidates gain entry into the university or tertiary programmes of their first choice. The school has a record of outstanding results.
