At Barker we have maintained a passion for teaching and learning for almost 125 years. We pride ourselves on the special School Community that exists – the sense of closeness and inclusiveness that parents and students alike come to value and appreciate about the School.
As Head of School, Mr Phillip Heath, highlights "it is extremely important to remember that all experiences we provide here at Barker College pre-eminently should be about education. All that we do must reflect our Values and our Mission: To inspire and to show commitment, compassion, courage, integrity and respect under God".
Barker is an Anglican community inspiring each learner, every experience, every day.
Boarding at Barker College is a unique experience for senior students only and with a maximum student population of 60, it falls into the boutique category. Students commence boarding at Barker in Year 10 which coincides with the time that the Barker Senior School transforms to a coeducational structure.
The Barker experience attracts boarders from the suburbs of Sydney through to country regions of NSW and beyond. The co-educational and small boarder numbers support the development of peer relationships and social skills, whilst also allowing strong academic and personal mentoring opportunities.
Families can now consider keeping their children closer to home until the end of Year 9 and then elect to enter boarding from the start of Year 10.
Each year Barker College offers a number of Scholarships for Boarding, Academic and Music. The Scholarship Exam is held at the School and further information including an application, can be found at www.barker.nsw.edu.au
Set on 50 acres, Barker College offers first class facilities for its students including two fully equipped gymnasiums, indoor Aquatics centre, 7 playing fields, Music Centre, Drama theatres and studios and 5 Lecture Theatres.
