We know that boys need to run around, to climb and explore, to be active and on the move and that they learn best when they are making and doing. We also know that boys will make mistakes and that we need to be there to assist them to make good choices.
In the Prep School we encourage our boys to try to become the very best boy they can be in all areas. Our unofficial motto is “have-a-go” as our boys are supported to constantly try new things. We acknowledge that all boys have strengths and it is through trying new things and a variety of activities that our boys will be able to identify what they are good at. |

Pastoral Care is the responsibility of all our staff, to ensure our boys feel a sense of belonging and are valued members of the school environment. Our pillars of Faith, Wisdom, Integrity and Compassion encompass the way we interact with each other and assist to develop a happy and cohesive environment in which to grow and develop.
K-6 boys are involved in weekly 'You Can Do It' lessons which focus on 'Getting Along, Confidence, Persistence, Organisation and Resilience'. From time to time boys do make mistakes and it is important that they learn from this and look at positive ways to solve problems.
Our School Reflection system allows boys to sit and discuss issues with staff and guides them through a step by step process to achieve a positive outcome. It helps our boys to develop a plan of action to ensure they are able to make better choices in the future.
The Director of Students liaises with boys, parents and staff to ensure a consistent and supportive framework is in place to deal with classroom and playground issues. The Housemasters maintain the pastoral care of boys within their House and together with class teachers and specialists we are able to help our boys develop into kind, supportive and caring young men.
At Knox Grammar Preparatory School we take pride in the presentation of the young boys in our care. Our boys are always neatly dressed and when in public, reflect the values of our school.
We live in a Uniting Church community and we treat others as we wished to be treated. Our rules and guidelines are based on respect, allowing others to learn and be the best they can be. We expect that our boys will always treat one another in a polite and courteous manner and try their best at whatever they do. Our motto is 'Virile Agitur’ which means ‘Do The Manly Thing'. |
